What is Grey and does not matter? An Ir-relephant.
With another big round on the Internet about search sites with black backgrounds, I decided to check it out. Unfortunately, I found that the light text on the dark background just did not work for me.
Well, with those sites not working for me visually and thinking it might not work for others, I made one that I felt worked better for me... Greygle. It uses a grey background with dark text making it easier for me to read.
Now there is talk about sites using darker backgrounds such as Greygle not being energy efficient for LCDs and that it is only useful for CRTs, but reading up more on some blogs like ecoIron which has this article Facts and Fallacies on Black Google. Talk about upcoming monitor technology like Plasma and OLED actually will once again use more power to make white pixels, thus making sites that use darker backgrounds more efficient.
So using Greygle right now might not have the cost and power savings for LCDs as when compared to CRTs. However, with changing technology, it sounds like it will in the future. Start Greygling now, so you will already be ahead of the pack in its use when the new monitor types are predominant.
